Even in the middle of steering India’s most expensive cinematic spectacle to the finish line, Ranbir Kapoor’s real-life anchor remains blissfully domestic. While globe-trotting across London and Los Angeles to promote Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayana, the actor took a heartwarming detour to celebrate the biggest light of his life: his little daughter, Raha Kapoor. In an intimate conversation ahead of the festival of lights, the star made it clear that no blockbuster hype outshines family.
Speaking to BBC Asian Network alongside co-star Sai Pallavi, the actors were asked to reflect on the true ‘diyas’ illuminating their personal worlds. Without skipping a beat, Ranbir beamed with pure fatherly joy. “For me, it’s (the diya) definitely my daughter (Raha Kapoor). It’s her fourth Diwali,” he shared warmly. Reflecting on the timing, he added, “It’s her birthday as well on November 6, two days before Diwali (November 8). So I hope that she gets a lot of blessings, good vibes, and positivity around her.”
The timing could hardly be more poetic. While Ramayana: Rise of a Legend storms global theatres on November 5, Raha turns four just a day later on November 6. For Ranbir, the convergence of portraying Maryada Purushottam and watching his daughter grow has been life changing. He previously described the synchronicity as a turning point, noting how parenthood brought him unprecedented grounding and emotional stillness.

Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita in the epic, chose to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes behind the grand production. “Over the last few days, I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed with the kind of reception and everything… But we are just the faces of the film. I want to give a shout-out to everyone who worked on Ramayana, including the assistant directors (Ads), the people who worked on my costumes, and everyone who worked hard,” she confessed.
As advance booking numbers shatter records, Ranbir’s tender tribute reminds everyone that beneath colossal cinematic expectations, he is simply a doting father cherishing his daughter’s joy.
