Reporting Live has generated a buzz on social media. The film starring Parineeti Chopra, Deven Bhojani, Adil Hussain and Shekhar Suman was released on Netflix on October 9, 2026. Reporting Live follows a young reporter named ‘Sandhya Yadav’ (played by Parineeti Chopra) and her reluctant cameraman ‘Vinod Sharma’ (played by Deven Bhojani), who investigate an illegal sand-mining racket controlled by a ruthless syndicate named R. Velraj (played by Nassar). Amid the buzz, here’s how the film ends.
What happens in Reporting Live? (Spoiler alert)
Journalist ‘Sandhya’ and her cameraman, ‘Vinod’, travel to Visargaon to cover the news. A bridge has collapsed in Visargaon, killing 17 people, including 14 schoolchildren. While local officials blame poor maintenance and some villagers believe that the bridge collapsed due to a solar eclipse, ‘Shiva Kaka’, a resilient villager of Visargaon, points out the real issue, which is illegal sand mining.

‘Shiva Kaka’ also directs ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ to investigate the matter. During the investigation, ‘Sandhya’ and her cameraman find out that the sand mafia has been extracting far more sand than permitted from the riverbed. Due to this, the ground beneath bridges is undermined, and the river’s course is disrupted, damaging the nearby farmland. ‘Sandhya’ understands that it was not an accident and was the result of an illegal business.
‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ collect footage and evidence, and, based on their initial report, some people are arrested. Police also take action against the criminals. However, it was too early for ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ to celebrate their success. ‘Shiva Kaka’ is murdered and his house is burnt. Soon, the illegal mining operation also resumes. The journalists realise that the people they have exposed are protected by someone far more powerful than the local criminals.
The journalists again start their investigation. Their investigation eventually leads them to a powerful and wealthy businessman, ‘R. Velraj’. He runs a company named Golden Sky Group that benefits from the illegally extracted sand because it can reduce the overall construction cost. The company’s official mining permissions also raise questions, as the scale of extraction exceeds what the licence permits.
‘Shyam’ (played by Shekhar Suman), the corporate head of Azaad Bharti, who is a close ally of ‘R. Velraj’, repeatedly attempts to prevent ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’s’ investigation. ‘Vidur Dutt’ (played by Adil Hussain), who is the founder of Azaad Bharti, initially works without disrupting ‘Velraj’s’ illegal mining operation. But eventually, he decides that the investigation done by ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ must reach the viewers.
The journalists also get help from municipal officer ‘Shobha Deshmukh’ (played by Geeta Agrawal Sharma), who knows about the illegal operation surrounding major development projects. ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ also find documents that prove Golden Sky Group has broken mining rules and harmed the environment. With the new evidence, the two prepare to expose the company’s illegal activities in a major news report.
Reporting Live ending explained (Spoiler alert)
Things become tough for ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ as they lose their jobs, but they refuse to abandon the investigation. They return to Azaad Bharti with the evidence that connects Golden Sky Group to an illegal mining racket. ‘Shyam’ initially welcomes them but delays the broadcast to expose ‘R. Velraj’s’ and his company’s illegal operation. However, ‘Vidur’ finally intervenes and allows ‘Sandhya’ to present the report on prime-time television.

The exposé puts ‘Vidur’ in a tight spot. ‘Sandhya’ and ‘Vinod’ leave the newsroom after presenting the report. They then head towards a school event for ‘Vinod’s’ daughter when a truck runs into their motorcycle. The duo dies on the spot. The timing makes the incident look like a deliberate attack from either ‘R. Velraj’ or ‘Shyam’ rather than an ordinary road accident.
