Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called upon the public and all stakeholders to embrace water conservation as a collective responsibility and contribute towards building a sustainable and water-secure Hyderabad.
He urged maximum utilisation of treated water for landscaping, construction activities and industrial requirements, as part of measures to mitigate the impact of El Niño.
In view of Hyderabad’s rapid expansion, the Chief Minister emphasised the need to prioritise water security and sustainable management of resources.
Amidst El Niño weather conditions, he advised proactive measures, mainly conserving drinking water sources and reducing the use of potable water for non-domestic purposes.
Launching the ‘Dial Green Tanker – Green Tanker Operations’ initiative, Revanth Reddy urged all government departments, industries, construction agencies and commercial establishments to make extensive use of treated wastewater for landscaping, construction and industrial needs.
He said this would help conserve safe drinking water for essential domestic use.
On the occasion of the 37th Foundation Day of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), the Chief Minister extended wishes to officials, employees, staff and their families.
He praised the Board for supplying potable water and maintaining sewage services for the last 37 years, commending its contributions to the city’s development, public health and overall progress.
He expressed hope that HMWSSB would achieve further milestones in serving the people of the Core Urban Region (CURE).
