Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy offered special prayers to Goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma at Medaram in Mulugu district on Sunday. Amid traditional rituals and drum beats, priests welcomed him at the sacred gaddes, where he offered jaggery equivalent to his height as a customary offering.
Revanth Reddy prayed for the welfare, prosperity and good health of the people of Telangana. He inspected development works underway at the shrine and planted a sapling on the temple premises, stressing the importance of environmental protection.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a water treatment plant to provide clean drinking water to devotees visiting Medaram. He also launched the distribution of new social security pensions, handing over sanction letters and cheques to 24 widows and single women under the rural development programme. Each beneficiary will receive ₹2,016 per month. He said the government would ensure that all eligible people benefit from welfare schemes.
Revanth Reddy interacted with women devotees and enquired about the benefits they were receiving, particularly the free bus travel facility. He later met self‑help groups, discussed their livelihoods and financial empowerment, and posed for a group photograph with them.
Meanwhile, panchayat raj minister Danasari ‘Seethakka’ Anasuya tied a Rakhi to the Chief Minister at Medaram in advance of Raksha Bandhan on August 28, as he is expected to be on a foreign tour at the time.
The Chief Minister arrived by special helicopter from Bichkunda and was accorded a warm welcome by ministers, MPs, MLAs, public representatives and officials. Tribal priests in traditional attire received him with drum beats. PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Seethakka and Adluri Laxman, MPs Vem Narender Reddy, Kadiam Kavya and Balaram Naik, Government Whip Ramchander Naik, MLAs Kadiam Srihari, Gandra Satyanarayana Rao, Nayini Rajender Reddy and others attended the programme.
