Sangareddy: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the people to compare for themselves the performance of the 12 years of BJP rule at the Centre and 10 years of the BRS in the state with the Congress’ governance for 32 months in the state. He challenged former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to discuss the Congress’ performance in the Assembly against what he said was the injustice under the BRS regime.
“The BJP and the BRS are not different, they are two sides of the same coin,” Revanth Reddy said, speaking at an event in Sangareddy after launching the first-ever smart ration cards in the state. Against the backdrop of the Congress government adding beneficiaries to the public distribution system, he said the vision of the people’s government was that not a single poor person should suffer from hunger in Indiramma Rajyam.
“Opposition leaders are trying to find fault with the fine rice, Indiramma houses and Aarogyasri schemes but they have failed,” he said. He asked the BJP and the BRS why it did not think of providing fine rice for the poor. The Congress government was ensuring that fine rice reached every household, resulting in a decrease in the price of fine rice in the open market.
He noted that the BRS and BJP had claimed that there would be power cuts if the Congress came to power. “In these 32 months, has power gone out even for a single moment,” he asked the audience. “We are providing 24-hour free electricity to farmers in every village and financial aid under the Rythu Bharosa.”
He said former CM Rao had stated that cultivating paddy would ruin farmers, but today the Congress government was giving farmers a bonus of Rs 500 for fine paddy. “We have increased Rythu Bharosa by Rs 2,000 and are providing Rs 12,000 annually. We deposited Rs 36,000 crore into farmers’ accounts under Rythu Bharosa,” Revanth Reddy said.
He said the Congress government had spent Rs 21,000 crore to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh, something that he stated was unprecedented. “Do BJP leaders not see the Central government reports stating that there are farmers in Telangana without outstanding loans,” he asked. Revanth Reddy said the Congress government transferred Rs 90,000 crore directly to farmers’ accounts for the paddy they produced. The government has spent Rs 1.7 lakh crore on farmers so far.
In a dig at the former CM, Revanth Reddy said: “Those who promised double-bedroom houses did not give even one house to anyone.” He said Chandrashekar Rao had provided jobs for his son, daughter, nephew and other relatives while ignoring unemployed youths. The Congress government had sanctioned 700,000 houses in two years. “There is no village in Telangana without an Indiramma house,” Revanth Reddy said.
Praising Congress top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Revanth Reddy said it was the government’s responsibility to support single women by providing pensions. He noted that 72,000 government vacancies had been filled, and notifications issued for another 10,000 posts, he said. “Unemployed youths should not fall into the trap of those who make false promises,” he said. “Wicked people are conspiring for political power and personal gain. Do not be deceived by them. Prepare for your examinations,” he said.
He alleged that some people were performing black magic and occult rituals in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu against the Telangana government. “Those who post their every step on social media, why did they keep their visits to temples in Tamil Nadu a secret,” Revanth Reddy said and added: “No matter how many occult rituals they perform, God’s blessings are with us.” He noted that even amidst the El Nino conditions, the Sripada Yellampalli reservoir was full
