Karimnagar:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s padayatra in Sircilla town on Wednesday received a good response, with people from various sections participating enthusiastically.
In a show of support for the weaving community, Revanth Reddy took out the padayatra from the Ambedkar statue to a meeting venue near the Rangineni Trust on Ragudu bypass road.
The Chief Minister arrived by helicopter at the Junior College grounds at 5.10 pm and began the padayatra at 5.20 pm.
Scores of people, including Cabinet ministers, Congress workers, weavers and members of the public, joined the procession. The padayatra passed through the Phule and Nethanna statues before reaching the meeting venue at 6.12 pm.
As Congress leaders vied to meet Revanth Reddy during the padayatra, people standing on rooftops waved to the Chief Minister. Revanth Reddy responded by waving back at them as he enthusiastically participated in the procession.
Though rope barriers and police personnel surrounded the Chief Minister throughout the yatra to prevent people from reaching him, party leaders and others still managed to approach him. Bonalu celebrations were also held during the padayatra. Enthusiastic Congress workers danced to a song composed on Revanth Reddy while carrying party flags.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar, Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas, party MLAs and others participated in the padayatra.
