‘Rick And Morty’ S9 Premiere Recap, Why Did ‘Rick’ Ally With ‘Evil Morty’ And How The Villain Falls?

Adult animated shows have always found a different fan base among the audience. Rick and Morty is one of those. Although the show premiered more than ten years ago, it grabbed attention right from Season 1, attracting heavy viewership on television. The success was so big that a movie based on the show has already entered development.

Meanwhile, the ninth season has arrived on May 24, 2026. Just like the previous few installments, the episodes will be released on a weekly basis, leading to the end of Season 9 on July 26, 2026. ‘Rick’ is revealed to be working with ‘Evil Morty’

‘Morty Smith’ is spotted having fun as he enjoys his drink. He enters the garage to see ‘Rick’, who is busy with a self-chilling beer. But he is also having a conversation with someone and tries to keep the individual’s identity a secret from ‘Morty’. However, ‘Morty’ is eager to know about the person, which leads to a conflict with ‘Rick’. ‘Morty’ then finds that it is none other than ‘Evil Morty’, who is being assisted by ‘Rick’ with multiversal dangers. ‘Rick’ is forced to help ‘Evil Morty,’ who threatens ‘Rick’s’ family while seeking his assistance.

‘Evil Morty’s’ intentions are revealed to be something else

‘Morty’ accompanies ‘Evil Morty’, witnessing that the latter has different forms of ‘Rick’, ‘Beth’, ‘Jerry’, and ‘Summer’. Notably, the versions of these characters have been kept in a device, and a wrong move from the lead characters will remove the family’s existence forever. But the matter is revealed to be something else. ‘Rick’ and ‘Morty’ need to stop ‘The Collective,’ an alien hive mind. It is targeting the Central Finite Curve, which is the cluster of every universe that has ‘Rick’ and ‘Morty’ inside. However, it is not easy to stop ‘The Collective’ with portal technology.

‘Rick’ and ‘Morty’ somehow manage to face ‘The Collective’

Despite the complications, ‘Rick’, ‘Morty’, and ‘Evil Morty’ decide to face ‘The Collective.’ They discover the hive mind trying to finish an alien planet. They reach the original form of ‘The Collective,’ leading to a face-off with ‘Rick’ and ‘Evil Morty’. The duo appears as ‘Collective’ drones while they tell ‘Morty’ to throw a few charges. But the ‘Collective’ is too smart to understand the move, and the charges are absorbed. In between that, they even absorb themselves due to a compression algorithm. 

‘Evil Morty’ is betrayed by ‘Rick’, who prepares his family for a battle

While the situation is brought under control, the trio decides to celebrate. However, ‘Morty’ tells ‘Evil Morty’ to leave after being disturbed by his words. On the other hand, ‘Evil Morty’ is shocked to see that the device with the versions of ‘Rick’, ‘Beth’, ‘Jerry’, and ‘Summer’, has been damaged, with ‘Rick’ adding the blueprints for the same inside. This means that ‘Rick’ has ended his association with ‘Evil Morty’. 

Meanwhile, ‘Rick’ is well aware of how ‘Evil Morty’ will react. He prepares his family in case of an emergency. He puts all of them inside a dimension that has weapons and tells them everything about ‘Evil Morty’, including the moments where he can be easily taken down. 

What happens to ‘Evil Morty’ in the end?

‘Evil Morty’ faces ‘Rick’ and ‘Morty’ in the disguise of a robot butler at first. ‘Evil Morty’ manages to dodge every attack from the duo. ‘Rick’ and ‘Morty’ then trade fire, going through multiple houses, followed by a face-off with a kaiju. ‘Rick’ and ‘Morty’ fight ‘Evil Morty’ from different places. A few moments later, ‘Evil Morty’s’ eyepatch is gone, and he goes towards the house where the Smith family is waiting. 

Although ‘Evil Morty’ fights back with his palm laser, ‘Rick’s’ family manages to stop him since the palm laser needs some time to recharge. ‘Evil Morty’ still gets the upper hand in the battle by using something that stops time. While he is about to make a move, the Fourth Dimensional Time Cops take him into custody. ‘Evil Morty’ is now in a time prison, leading to a lot of questions about what’s going to happen next.
