Ricky Hatton left a huge fortune behind following his tragic death last year, but his son, Campbell, claims that the family are ‘in the dark’ when it comes to his estate

Ricky Hatton reportedly amassed a £30 million estate before his death last year. According to reports, his business ventures are said to have amassed more than £20 million, with his property investments valued at £10 million.

Since Ricky tragically took his own life aged 46 last year, the extent of his finances has been surrounded by secrecy, with his family left perplexed as he did not leave a will behind.

Although trustees were appointed, Ricky’s family, including his son Campbell, 25, and daughters Millie, 14, and Fearne, 13, have been left completely in the dark about his finances. At the time of his death, Ricky had 20 businesses listed with Companies House, all of which had filed their latest accounts.

One business, DHT Finance Limited, is valued at over £18 million, while CWR 2021 is worth almost £2.5 million. Ricky is also believed to have had a “significant stake” in a Leicester development, dating back to 2017, worth around £30 million. However, some companies had large deficits.

Ricky’s son, Campbell, told The Sun on Wednesday: “My family is still completely in the dark. We’ve had no involvement in my dad’s finances for over 15 years.”

Meanwhile, a source added to the publication: “Campbell and his family are still waiting for answers on his estate. Let’s hope the trustees will shed some light on the matter sooner rather than later.”

Sources have previously claimed that throughout his career, Ricky was “determined to ensure that he had a financial legacy from his incredible career.” It was recently reported that his home was sold this year for £1.5 million, after £350,000 was knocked off the asking price.

The property, where Ricky sadly died, was put on the market before his death for £1.85 million, but it was taken off the market in the wake of his death. The house was later put back on the market for £1.75 million, then reduced to £1.65 million, and eventually sold for £1.5 million.

The house, which boasted five bedrooms and six bathrooms, was described as a “landmark modern residence offering luxury, space and unrivalled lifestyle features”. It also had several reception rooms and an open-plan living area.

In the years leading up to his death, Ricky had been open about his struggles with drugs and alcohol. At the inquest into his death during March, a coroner concluded the official cause of death was hanging, but said it was not clear Hatton had intended to take his own life.

Earlier this year, Campbell said he had read in the media about his dad’s fortune, but he had no clue what the legendary boxer had left behind. While announcing his return to the boxing ring earlier this year, Campbell said: “I grew up in a council house with my mum and I’ve not had these millions since. That’s part of… I’ve listed all my reasons for getting back in the ring, but that’s a big part of it as well. I need to think about my future as well as my family’s.”
