Power couple Rihanna and A$AP Rocky attended the Met Gala together but after the annual celebration, seemed to have a tense exchange in which both looked frustrated
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky appeared to be caught in a fraught conversation after the Met Gala on Monday (4 May). Following the event, the couple were spotted in a sprinter bus where they seemed to engaged in a tense talk.
The lights may have been flashing as if the party was still going, but both the singer and her rapper partner seemed far from happy. This was Rihanna’s 12th Met Gala and A$AP Rocky’s sixth. The pair have attended together since confirming their relationship, often being the last to arrive to the gala, as Rihanna has special permission from Anna Wintour to be the final person on the carpet.

In a video posted by TMZ, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky appeared to be caught in a tense conversation. There were no smiles as they spoke but both shook their head slightly. Onlookers could be heard saying: “Oh they are not happy… Wait, are they arguing?”
Fans agreed that the couple, who share three children together, looked like they were arguing. Some argued this was completely normal for two people who have been together as long as Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have. One fan said: “In case anyone hasn’t been in a committed relationship, this is normal.”
But others were desperate to know what the two were arguing about. One said she was “waiting on the lip reading lady”, referring to Jackie G, a content creator who makes videos where she lip reads videos of celebrities. Several more replied that they were waiting for Jackie to post something and had either tagged her or sent her the video. At the time of writing, Jackie has not posted about Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.
Speaking to TMZ, a Met Gala attendee said that the couple were “totally fine and having a great time”. They added that they “did not appear to have any issues”. But, following the release of the video, one fan shared another from the night, which they claimed “might be the reason” for a potential argument.

In the video shared by the fan, Rihanna was initially looking off to the side where her partner was having a conversation with another woman, but turned and smiled to the camera when asked how she was doing. She kept talking for a bit about whether or not she was having a “good time”, until A$AP Rocky came over to the camera man, without talking to Rihanna and stood in front of her as he talked. He then looked out to the crowd before turning back to Rihanna. The Mirror went to Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s representatives for comment.
During the night, Rihanna also appeared to suggest her rumoured feud with Beyonce had come to an end. Rumours were rife when Beyonce released her Formation album, just days after Rihanna’s Anti.
Anti marked Rihanna’s first release since Unapologetic in 2012, with many fans baffled by Beyonce’s timing. At the time, Rihanna also liked a social media post claiming that Anti wasn’t nominated for a Grammy, so Beyonce had less competition.
But finally, the ice has thawed, and the pair spent the night partying after the Met Gala. While walking the famous carpet into the event, Rihanna was asked about her plans for after the Met.
“We’re going to Beyonce and Jay-Z’s afterparty,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. The Where Have You Been hitmaker added: “Are you kidding? There’s only one afterparty!”
