“It is shot in Kolkata at a stretch and I didn’t want to be away from my home and children in Mumbai for that long,” the actress explained. “But the offer was irresistible.” Karisma, who played the typical miss goody two shoes in her prime, added, “Rita Brown is flawed, vulnerable, emotionally bruised, yet incredibly resilient in the way she keeps moving forward despite everything life throws at her.”
For the first time in her career Karisma appears on screen without makeup. “What drew me to Brown was the emotional honesty of the writing. There’s no attempt to glamorise pain or simplify human relationships. As an actor, that was deeply fulfilling because it pushed me to tap into emotions that are very raw and real,” she shared.
