Nick Reiner has appeared in court again after being charged with the killings of his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer who died in December 2025.
Nick Reiner appeared in court again on Wednesday, faced with the charges of killing his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer.
Reiner, 32, appeared in LA Superior Court in front of Judge Sam Ohta this week, looking anxious and reportedly “thinner” as he continued to face charges for the death of his parents.
He has pleaded not guilty to six felony charges, two of first-degree murder, two of special circumstances involving multiple murder and two counts of special circumstances using a deadly weapon, which was identified as a knife.
During the court case on Wednesday, he was asked if he agreed to appear in court again on September 15, where a date will be set for a full preliminary hearing on his prosecutor’s evidence.
Reiner agreed, per the Daily Mail, and his public defender, Kimberly Greene, confirmed that she is still awaiting discovery evidence to be handed over to her by prosecutors. Greene took over the case after Reiner’s initial lawyer, Alan Jackson, withdrew in January.
Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Chong confirmed: “We are still waiting for the autopsy reports on both victims.”
Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele, 70, were killed by multiple knife stab wounds four months ago. It’s claimed that Romy Reiner, Rob and Michele’s daughter, found their bodies inside their home in Brentwood. At the time, it was said Romy had told law enforcement that a relative “should be a suspect” because they were “dangerous”.
Both Rob and Michele’s deaths have been ruled as homicides by the Los Angeles County medical examiners with the couple both dying from multiple sharp force injuries. It is the only cause of death that has been listed on their reports.
It’s said that during the brief hearing in January, there was no mention made of Reiner’s mental state at the time. It had previously been claimed by insiders that Reiner was receiving treatment from a psychiatrist for mental health issues around the time of his parents’ death.
In the month before the killings, it was reported that Nick’s conduct had become “alarming.” It was also alleged that the trio were involved in a heated argument on Saturday night, the night before the murders took place.
The three had attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party, and reportedly argued when they got home about Nick’s behaviour at the party, suggesting he acted inappropriately.
In recent years, Reiner had been treated at a Los Angeles rehab centre that focuses on mental health conditions and drug dependency. The facility reportedly costs $70,000 monthly and is frequented by wealthy, influential parents seeking help for their struggling children.
Rob Reiner was best known for his work as an actor and director, appearing in The Wolf of Wall Street and in New Girl as Jess Day’s father, Bob Day, in later life.
He is also the director of popular films, including the heavy metal mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, The Sure Thing, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men.
