The Rockies moved on from an oft-injured, yet talented outfielder on Monday.
Brenton Doyle was traded to the White Sox in exchange for two prospects, pitcher Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma.
Doyle is a two-time Gold Glover in center field and can be a bit of a terror on the basepaths, accumulating 60 stolen bases from 2023 to 2025 before this season was derailed by injuries.
The 28-year-old returned to the lineup on July 31 and missed over two months this season after going on the 10-day IL on May 21 with an oblique injury that was extended when he sustained a groin injury while rehabbing.
In 2024, Doyle posted the best season of his career with a strong 3.6 WAR, hitting 23 home runs and 30 stolen bases while playing Gold Glove center field. He had a down year in 2025 with struggling contact rates and just a 0.4 WAR.
It looks likely that Doyle, under team control through the 2029 season, will be a full-time outfielder for the first-place White Sox.
Chicago’s options in center field are rather limited, with Tristan Peters, Luisangel Acuña and Derek Hill as potential options.
For the Rockies, they found their center fielder of the future in Cole Carrigg this season.
After coming up from the minor leagues, he’s been hitting .287 with five home runs, 26 RBIs, and an ,.879 OPS this season.
Adams, 26, was ranked No. 8 in the White Sox system and will likely report to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.
