Recently, Ruby Rose sat for a candid conversation with Kaitlyn Bristowe on her podcast Off the Vine. During the conversation, Ruby opened up about a traumatic childhood experience that left her completely shocked. Recalling the incident, Ruby shared that she was at a gathering with her mother and family friends at a house in a bushland area. She and a friend were outside near a playground when they noticed what they initially thought was a doll lying on a slide.
When the duo got closer, they realized it was actually a four-year-old boy who had been seriously injured. At the time, Ruby was 15 and was smoking a cigarette for the first time. Recalling the moment, Ruby shared:
“My friend and I locked eyes, and we started walking towards it. As we got close enough, we could tell this was a real human. There was blood coming out of his ear, nose, and mouth. It was very traumatic.”
Ruby mentioned seeing the four-year-old boy’s condition; she picked up the child and brought him inside the house, where the adults started performing CPR on him. The boy was still breathing when the ambulance arrived, so Ruby initially thought that he might survive. However, the boy’s condition was extremely serious. Doctors kept the little boy alive using life support, but eventually he was declared brain dead. Doctors then removed his life support, and he died.
The situation became worse and more traumatic for Ruby because police came to her school the next day and questioned her about the boy’s death. Some people even called her a ‘baby killer’, which made her extremely upset. She was not actually accused of deliberately killing the 4-year-old child, but rather suspicion arose because she had been one of the people who found and handled the boy. Ruby said:
“People were like, ‘Baby killer!’ I was breaking down.”
Ruby revealed that the boy’s elder brother, who witnessed the death, had suffered ‘dissociative amnesia’ following the incident. Later, the brother’s memories came back, and he told the police that the boy’s death had been a tragic accident. Ruby said:
“He went back to the police and, thank goodness, told them, because they didn’t think it was me anyway, but that doesn’t always happen. He remembered, and I was cleared, but the child’s mother still didn’t want me at the funeral. So everyone went except me.”

For the uninitiated, Ruby and Katy are involved in an ongoing dispute over an alleged incident that the 40-year-old Aussie actress claimed happened in 2010 at a nightclub in Melbourne, Australia. Earlier, in April 2026, Ruby publicly alleged that Katy Perry sexually assaulted her at the nightclub when Rose was in her early 20s. However, Katy denied the allegation. Her representative called Rose’s claims ‘categorically false’ and ‘dangerous, reckless lies.’
Victoria Police are investigating Ruby Rose and Katy Perry’s case. A former manager at the Melbourne nightclub where the alleged incident took place said that he did not witness the alleged incident because the women were sitting in a VIP area. However, he mentioned that he saw Katy and Ruby arriving together at Melbourne’s Spice Market along with several other friends.
