This Morning presenter Rylan Clark has shared an update on his 73-year-old mum Linda’s health, after she suffered a nasty injury in a “horrible” accident at his home
Chatting to Tea with Nan podcast host Margie Keefe, best known to her 6,000 YouTube subscribers as Grime Gran, This Morning regular Rylan Clark has given a frank update on his mother’s health. Rylan’s mum Linda, 73, is well known thanks to regular appearances alongside him on Celebrity Gogglebox, but in recent years has faced several serious health battles, including a long-term fight with Crohn’s disease and, in 2018, a worrying case of sepsis.
“She had a bit of a fall again,” Rylan told Margie. “She’s a nightmare. I need to wrap her in cotton wool.”
In the new interview, Rylan explained that once a week, his housekeeper will take his bins out, ready for collection. Despite that, he added, his mum will ring him to remind him to do it every Friday. And sometimes, he says, she will pop round to his Essex mansion to bring them back in for him.
“On a Saturday, when I go to do my radio show, I’ll always drag the bins in,” he told Margie. “That’s just how I do it.”
However, Linda is determined to help her son in any way she can: “She has to come around 10am every Saturday morning. The bin men have only just left, she can see the lorry going, and she has to drag them in. Once, she’s fallen over the little metal bit of the gates. So, she’s done that once.”
But this time, Rylan says, it was Linda’s own bin that caused this mishap: “It was her bins. She walked out of her house… it wasn’t her fault. I’ve got it on, the Ring camera. Thank God I saw it.
“She literally walked out, when it was icy, [she slipped on] a piece of ice and it was horrible to watch, to be fair. Her t** fell out.”
Linda fractured a bone in her shoulder due to the accident, and, for quite some time, was unable to raise her arm above shoulder.
Thankfully, Rylan added, the injury has now mostly healed and she’s able to drive herself around again: “She was bad. But, you know what? Touch wood, she’s good. Next up; facelift,” he quipped.
While he was on the subject of cosmetic procedures, Rylan told Margie how he had insisted on having a general anaesthetic before having his teeth capped. Rejecting the suggestion that he had travelled to Turkey for his replacement gnashers, he proudly told the podcast host that the procedure had been done in Harley Street.
But, he said, something about the medication he had been given had a strange effect on his memory. The X Factor star admitted: “I woke up in my bed at home at about three o’clock in the morning… I had my pants on, no trousers, but a T-shirt.”
He explained how he prefers to sleep naked, and started stripping off, only to realise that his make-up artist Bernice was also sleeping in his bed.
She told Rylan that the dentist had advised her not to allow him to sleep alone until the effects of the sedative had completely worn off. He wasn’t too worried about the fact that his make-up artist could see him naked. “She’s seen it all before,” he joked.
