Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has warned people against using earphones while walking near railway tracks or driving vehicles, highlighting the dangers of distraction.
Responding to an incident in which a man walking on the railway track while talking on his phone was hit by a speeding train from behind at Bollarum recently, Sajjanar said that a moment of carelessness could cost a life.
In a post on X, he cautioned that earphones can prevent people from hearing approaching trains, warning horns and vehicle sirens, putting themselves and others at risk.
Sajjanar urged people, particularly youngsters, to remain alert while walking on roads, driving vehicles and moving near railway tracks. Phone calls and music can wait, but a life lost due to negligence cannot be brought back, he emphasised.
He reminded the people to prioritise safety and remember the family members waiting for them at home.
