Salman Khan Reacts To Bitter Feud With Shah Rukh Khan On 'Koffee With Karan 9', 'It Wasn't Good...'

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are considered Bollywood heavyweights because of their decades of contribution and influence in the industry. Both rose to stardom around the same time in the late 80s and early 90s and have had very similar career trajectories. The two of them were also great friends and appeared in several movies together.

However, at one point SRK and Salman stopped associating with each other due to a massive fallout and remained estranged for years. Notably, neither side wanted to talk about it publicly and has maintained a respectful silence for almost two decades. Now, as of 2026, things are amicable between them, and Salman likely ended the feud talks for good in his recent talk show appearance.

Salman Khan finally broke his silence on his years-long feud with Shah Rukh Khan

Karan Johar-hosted Koffee with Karan is back with its final season, and it started with a bang by welcoming one of the most entertaining actors of Bollywood- Salman Khan. He was joined by Karisma Kapoor, and the duo took the fans back to the 90s when they used to be a beloved on-screen couple. In the inaugural episode, the actors opened up about some age-old buzz around them, including their dating rumours and Salman’s past rift with Shah Rukh.

During one segment, Karan Johar made a candid confession to Salman, saying, “No one gets me more stressed, nervous, and hyper than you. I don’t know why, it hasn’t changed.” Responding to the Student of the Year filmmaker, Salman sarcastically asked, “Is it because of you or is it because of somebody else?”

The actor then seemed to hint at his long-standing rift with Shah Rukh Khan, reassuring Karan that things were amicable between them now and had been for a long time. With that comment, Salman likely tried to shut down the chatter about the topic once and for all. He said, “Right now you should not be stressed because everything is all good. It’s been good for the longest time.”

Without naming anyone, Salman said things were not always amicable between him and that person. He added, “At one point of time, it was not good.” Salman Khan then finally name-dropped Shah Rukh Khan and mentioned, “So, I could have understood that you were scared of me because of not you, because of Shah Rukh.” Karan laughed, brushed off the comment, and chose neither to admit nor deny the claim. He then moved on to the next topic likely to avoid controversy.

More about Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s feud

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s alleged rift began around mid-2008 when the two actors had a disagreement over something at Salman’s ex-girlfriend, Katrina Kaif’s birthday party in Mumbai. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actors reportedly got into a nasty fight, which led to years-long estrangement.

Several factors escalated the matter, including remarks about their respective television shows, Dus Ka Dum and Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?, and an alleged comment about Salman’s former girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In recent years, Salman and Shah Rukh have mended their differences, spoken warmly about each other, and even made cameo appearances in each other’s movies.

Salman and SRK likely buried the hatchet at Baba Siddique’s Iftar party in July 2013, as they were photographed hugging and posing with the host in some shots. While it is unclear what ended the five-year rift, their fans were thrilled by the reunion.

SRK and Salman have been seen together on screen after decades, when the latter made a high-energy special appearance in the song Issaqbaazi from the former’s film, Zero. Salman again appeared in a small scene in SRK’s high-octane movie, Pathaan, and the latter made cameos in Salman’s Tubelight and Tiger 3.
