Sam Thompson is stepping down from his role on Love Island: Aftersun after three years.

The former Made In Chelsea star and I’m A Celeb winner has appeared as a regular on the panel since 2023, but won’t be involved this summer’s show.

It comes just days after Sam Thompson found himself in an extremely awkward position on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Tuesday Morning, where the 33-year-old is currently covering for Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr.

After inviting listeners to ‘Ask Me Anything’, one fan came to the phone and got straight down to the nitty gritty, asking him live on-air, “How do you feel about playing the song from One Direction, Steal My Girl, knowing that one of the 1D boys did actually steal your girl?”.

It comes after the Made In Chelsea split from former Love Island star Zara McDermott in December 2024, after a five-year relationship, the pair living together in Sam’s Chelsea flat and Zara eventually joining the cast of Made In Chelsea.

But not all was smooth sailing as the couple hit rocky waters and briefly split after Zara admitted to sleeping with someone else during The X Factor: Celebrity 2019. The pair patched things up, but following rumours their relationship had hit rocky waters again, they split over Christmas 2024 – and Zara went official with boyband star Louis in March 2025.

Sam has been keeping himself very busy since the split but a spokeswoman for Sam told The Sun: “Sam absolutely loved his time as part of the Love Island team and the show will always have a special place in his heart, but he felt 2026 was the year to concentrate on his many other ITV projects.
