Samantha Ruth Prabhu Opened Up On Pregnancy At Almost 40, ‘I Don’t Think It’s Too Late…’

Actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and filmmaker, Raj Nidimoru have dominated fan discussion forums ever since they got married. Even before the couple tied the knot on December 1, 2025, they had been under intense public scrutiny for their secret romance and their controversial splits from their respective ex-spouses. For the unversed, Samantha was married to top star, Naga Chaitanya, for four years, and Raj Nidimoru led a spousal life with assistant director and scriptwriter, Shhyamali De, for seven years.

Currently, within six months of their marriage, Samantha and Raj have sparked pregnancy rumours after the actress allegedly debuted her baby bump in public. The gossip began during her appearance at a promotional event for her Maa Inti Bangaaram. Amid that, her comments on late pregnancy and motherhood have come under focus.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared her views regarding late pregnancy

Actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been vocal about her desire for motherhood; however, she and Naga Chaitanya didn’t have any kids during their four years of marriage. Although reports suggest she was planning a baby three months before ending things with Naga, it ultimately didn’t materialise for various reasons. However, now that Samantha is six months into her second marriage to Raj Nidimoru, she is rumoured to be pregnant with her first baby. Months before the rumours surfaced, the Theri actress, who’s almost 40, shared her views on late pregnancy.

Although many are sceptical regarding pregnancy in their late 30s and 40s, Samantha is absolutely for it. The actress shared that she didn’t consider the age “too late” for having kids. She still hopes for motherhood and would love to have her own babies. According to her, parenthood is a “beautiful experience,” and she doesn’t want to miss out on it. Samantha also addressed many people’s concerns about late pregnancies and their risks; however, to her, motherhood has no age limit. Her exact words were:

“I don’t think it’s too late. I still have dreams of being a mother and, yeah, of course, I would love to be a mother. I have always wanted to be a mother; it’s quite a beautiful experience. I am looking forward to it. People often worry about age, but I think there is no time in life when you cannot be a mother.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya married in 2017, and in 2021, they announced their separation, shocking their fans. It was after their divorce announcement that producer, Neelima Guna revealed that Samantha was actually planning to become a mother in the same year. According to Neelima, when she approached Samantha with the film’s offer, Samantha was excited; however, she set a condition for signing the film, i.e., the shooting must be wrapped by July-August 2025, as she wanted to become a mother. Neelima said:

“Last year itself, when my father director Gunasekhar garu and I approached Samantha for Shaakuntalam, she loved the story and was very excited by it, but she told us that if she were to accept the role, the shooting should be completed by maximum July/August this year. She informed me that she was planning to start a family and that she wants to become a mother and that it would be her priority.”

In the same interview, Neelima Guna shared that when she and the entire team assured Samantha they would complete the shoot by July/August of 2021, the actress was on board. According to Neelima, Samantha would take a long break after the film to have a baby.
