For the trailer launch of her upcoming Telugu film, Maa Inti Bangaram, Samantha Ruth Prabhu wore a custom hand-painted sari by Archana Jaju. The look belongs to The Bapu Bomma Series, a promotional wardrobe direction that takes its cues from the work of legendary artist Bapu, whose illustrations of women are instantly recognisable for their expressive lines and old-world Telugu cinema resonance.

Jaju’s version came in handwoven silk, with hand-painted Kalamkari artwork that took close to 250 hours to complete. Instead of relying on a single ornamental motif, the sari carried a full set of narrative markers: bows, swords, florals, bangles, bindis and armbands painted across the fabric. The references pointed to Veerangana, the warrior-woman figure cited by the designer, while the sari’s terracotta and clay-red palette kept the look closer to earth than costume.
