Hyderabad: The proposed international airport in Warangal has become a talking point among Telugu audiences, with filmmaker and Warangal native Sandeep Reddy Vanga suggesting two names for the upcoming facility.
Vanga welcomed the development of an international airport in his hometown and suggested ‘Rudrama International Airport’ (RIA) and ‘Kakatiya International Airport’ (KIA), saying a name reflecting Warangal’s glorious legacy and cultural identity would be meaningful.
Responding to Vanga’s suggestion on X, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy replied, “That’s the SPIRIT..!!” The brief response quickly attracted attention, particularly because Vanga is currently directing ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas in the lead.
Vanga was quick to point out the connection. He revealed that “That’s the Spirit” is a line he has written for ‘Spirit’ and said he was genuinely surprised and excited to hear the same words from the Chief Minister.
The exchange has since become a talking point on social media, with fans connecting Revanth Reddy’s response to Vanga’s upcoming Prabhas-starrer. At the same time, the proposed airport itself is progressing, with the Telangana government stating that its design is expected to reflect Warangal’s Kakatiya heritage and that the project is targeted for completion by June 2, 2028.
For now, ‘Rudrama International Airport’ and ‘Kakatiya International Airport’ remain suggestions from Vanga, rather than confirmed names for the facility.
