Director Hemanth Madhukar believes actress Triptii Dimri will surprise audiences with her role in Spirit, starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Reacting to the ongoing social media discussion surrounding Triptii’s role, Hemanth said audiences often misunderstand the way Sandeep Reddy writes female characters. “People get carried away by a few intimate scenes in his films and assume the heroine has only glamour value. But if you observe closely, Sandeep gives very strong and layered roles to women,” Hemanth explained.
He cited Shalini Pandey’s character in Arjun Reddy as an example. “Shalini appeared simple and had a very homely image in the film, but the character carried emotional depth and significance,” he said.
Hemanth also pointed to Rashmika Mandanna’s performance in Animal. “Rashmika played a strong wife dealing with conflicts involving her husband and family. She earned appreciation for her performance even in a hero-centric film,” he added.
According to Hemanth, Sandeep Reddy Vanga gives equal importance to heroes, heroines, and villains while writing his characters.
Commenting on reports about Triptii replacing Deepika Padukone in Spirit, Hemanth dismissed comparisons between actresses. “I don’t believe in comparing actresses. Today, directors cast actors based on suitability for the role. I think Triptii will definitely live up to expectations,” he concluded.
