Actor Sanjay Dutt has issued a clarification after his statement about not feeling peace in India went viral. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that it was not his intention to hurt or disrespect anyone and that the remarks were made in the context of a scripted conversation.

His post read, “I want to clarify that it has never been my intention to hurt the feelings of any individual, community, or institution, to insult them, or to disrespect them. My comments were made in the context of a scripted conversation, the purpose of which was to engage in lighthearted and humorous dialogue. The sentiment behind it was akin to the style of humor and satire depicted in films like Munnabhai, particularly inspired by the concept of ‘Gandhigiri’, which aimed to convey a message of love, unity, and goodwill. Unfortunately, my words were interpreted differently, detached from that original context.”

What Did Sanjay Dutt Say?

Sanjay Dutt recently appeared on Shekhar Suman’s talk show Shekhar Tonite, where he spoke about India and the state of the country. The actor also channelled his beloved Munna Bhai MBBS character during a segment on the show.

Speaking about the country, Sanjay said, “The people of this country are so lovely. There should be peace here. I can’t feel that peace in our country anymore. We Indians are large-hearted people, and we are hospitable. We have given so much, and we should always remain that way. I pray to Shivji that those days come back soon.”

Sanjay frequently travels between Mumbai and Dubai for work. The actor holds a 10-year UAE Golden Visa, while his family is based in Dubai.

His comments irked several people, who took to social media to call it out. Meanwhile, on the work front, Sanjay Dutt was last seen in Aakhri Sawal and also made a cameo in the international project 7 Dogs, along with Salman Khan. He has Khalnayak Returns in the pipeline.
