Actor Sara Arjun makes a case for understated occasion dressing in this ivory anarkali from ShilpSutra by Shilpa Agarwalla. Stylist Nidhi Agarwal’s chose this airy ensemble from the label’s Noor-e-Riwaayat collection keeping things elevated yet fuss-free. She also brought a bohemian slant to Arjun’s look by accessorising with statement silver jhumkas from Soni Sapphire, stacked bangles and a ghungroo-inspired ring, both by label Ahsiam. A nod to her reel life character Yalina from Dhurandhar (2025), the monochromatic look perfectly encapsulates quiet luxury in the Indian context.

Made with fine chanderi silk, Sara Arjun’s anarkali features a fitted bodice and 24 individually tailored kalis or panels that eventually open into an expansive 8.5-metre flare. Delicate resham thread is used to hand embroider floral jaals–a mainstay in Mughal architecture and heritage Indian havelis–with intertwining vines that run as a leitmotif along the border. The use of layered satin stitches in blooming floral motifs and foliage-like designs also imparts a subtle three-dimensional look to the hand embroidery, further enhanced by hand-applied sequins and bead clusters at the centre of each bloom. ’70s-inspired bell sleeves with hand-beaded tassel details is both retro and dramatic, and elevates the simplicity of the anarkali. The accompanying pure organza dupatta perfectly ties together the monochromatic look.

For beauty, Arjun’s makeup artist Kritika Gill chose dramatic lashes and nude pink lips, while hair artist Daksh Nidhi turned to tumbling waves for a perfectly bohemian hair style.

From Vogue‘s fashion desk:

“To make the look more ceremonial, swap the bohemian silver jewellery with polki in jadau setting. Add some height with Kolhapuri-inspired wedges and throw in a minaudière to finish the look,” says Ashwini Arun Kumar, Vogue India fashion features editor.
