ADILABAD: The ongoing Saraswati Antya Pushkaralu at the Triveni Sangamam in Kaleshwaram of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district has drawn thousands of devotees, combining spiritual rituals with cultural events.

The 12-day Pushkaralu began on May 21 and will conclude on June 1, with daily rituals being performed by pandits. Devotees consider the Triveni Sangamam — the confluence of the Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswati rivers — as sacred and believe that taking a holy dip during the period brings spiritual merit.

Matadhipatis of different mutts and devotees from Telangana and neighbouring Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have visited the site and taken the holy dip. Devotees also had darshan at the Kaleshwaram temple. They strongly believe that taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangamam during Pushkaralu brings them punyam.

The state government has made elaborate arrangements at the venue, including lighting, artistic installations and cultural programmes to enhance the spiritual atmosphere. Ganga arati performed by priests in the evenings has emerged as a major attraction.

Officials said facilities for drinking water, sanitation, medical services and security have been put in place for the convenience of pilgrims visiting the pushkara ghats amid high temperatures.

K. Raghunath, a devotee from Godavarikhani who took the holy dip at the Triveni Sangamam, said he was impressed by the atmosphere at the venue. He said the beauty of the place was enhanced by the full moon, and devotees could feel the mystic spirit of the place with the breeze along the riverbanks.

Religious rituals, including homams such as Maha Sudarshana Homam on Hastha Nakshatram, are being conducted during the event, alongside traditional and cultural performances.

Pundits from different mutts performed homams, including Maha Sudarshana Homam on Hastha Nakshatram.

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, endowments minister Konda Surekha and IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu were among those who took a holy dip on the opening day.
