The makers of Karthi-starrer Sardar 2 marked Rajisha Vijayan’s birthday by unveiling her first look from the much-awaited spy thriller. Sharing the character poster on social media, the team confirmed that the actor will reprise her role as Indhrani from the 2022 blockbuster, while also teasing a fresh phase in her story.

The poster presents Rajisha as a pregnant woman, suggesting that the sequel will explore a new dimension of her character’s personal life. While the makers have remained tight-lipped about the film’s plot, the visual has already sparked speculation about Indhrani’s role in the narrative and how it ties into the events following the first film.
Along with the poster, the production house wished the actor on her birthday, writing, “Many more happy returns of the day Rajisha Vijayan. May you be blessed with good health, happiness and more blockbusters.”
Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 sees Karthi return as the legendary spy Chandra Bose. The makers have been promoting the sequel with the tagline, “Once a spy always a spy,” reinforcing that the veteran intelligence officer will once again take centre stage in the story. The screenplay has been written by Rathna Kumar, Aashameera Aiyappan and Vignesh Muniyandi.
A globe-trotting sequel set for September release
Sardar 2 recently wrapped production after an extensive shoot spanning more than 100 days. The team filmed across multiple locations, including China and Cambodia, signalling that the sequel is set to expand the scale established by its predecessor. Despite the international backdrop, the makers have chosen to keep story details under wraps.
The first Sardar introduced audiences to dual roles played by Karthi. On one hand was Vijay Prakash, a sincere police officer desperate to shed the stigma of being known as the son of a traitor. On the other was Chandra Bose, a legendary spy whose hidden past gradually unfolds while exposing a conspiracy with far-reaching consequences. The sequel is expected to continue Chandra Bose’s journey, although the exact conflict remains a closely guarded secret.
Joining Karthi and Rajisha Vijayan in the ensemble cast are SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Yogi Babu, among others. With several prominent names on board, the sequel is shaping up to be one of Tamil cinema’s biggest action spectacles of the year.
On the technical front, the film features music by Sam CS, cinematography by George C Williams and editing by Vijay Velukutty. Action sequences have been choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan D’Souza, promising elaborate set pieces that match the franchise’s espionage theme.
Produced by S Lakshman Kumar under the Prince Pictures banner along with Ishan Saksena, and co-produced by A Venkatesh, Sardar 2 is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on September 10. Besides Tamil, the film is also expected to release in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, reflecting the growing pan-Indian appeal of the franchise.
