Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé, Jason Galanis’ old remorseful letter resurfaces amid engagement buzz
Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé, Jason Galanis’ old letter has resurfaced amid the couple’s engagement announcement. In the letter, addressed to the judge right before his sentencing in the fraud case, he expressed regret for his past crimes. TMZ obtained the letter and revealed it was submitted about two weeks before he was sentenced to 189 months in federal prison.

In the letter, Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé claimed that he was “profoundly sorry” to the people he hurt and for not displaying a strong enough moral character. Jason Galanis also shared that he had a lot of time to think over the previous few years and realized that he was not sorry for the right reasons. He explained that he didn’t realize how badly he had hurt some people. A part of the letter could be quoted as:
“I no longer let possessions define me as I once did. At 50 years old, I live in an 80-square-foot cell…with a bunk bed, a stranger, a shared toilet, and where I’ve eaten every meal since March.”
In the same letter, he further alleged that he shouldn’t have blamed his father, John Galanis, for his own failings and promised to make it up to him. Jason Galanis asserted that he knew he was capable of change and that he would change. While it’s unclear how much the letter helped him, Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé was still sentenced to long prison terms, which only ended when President Donald Trump commuted his sentence in 2025.
For those who are not aware, Jason Galanis pleaded guilty to seven charges for a pair of financial fraud schemes, including one involving a Native American tribe. He was housed at the same prison as Todd Chrisley, his now-fiancée’s father, and later met Savannah, with whom he hit it off.
Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé, Jason Galanis, was an ‘ideal inmate’ and helped teach other prisoners
In another report by TMZ, it was revealed that Jason Galanis made quite the impression while serving time in the federal prison. According to the records obtained by the publication, he was praised for his work ethic, teaching skills, and willingness to help fellow inmates. Based on the records filed in court, the Federal Bureau of Prisons gave Jason a glowing review in a July 2017 work performance evaluation while serving as a volunteer tutor.

Prison officials wrote that Jason volunteered to teach several classes to fellow inmates and genuinely tried to turn his negative experience behind bars into something positive. The evaluation also praised his teaching abilities and credited him with encouraging other prisoners to pursue their educational goals. According to the reports, Jason Galanis earned the highest possible ratings in several categories.
He also received top marks for following instructions and working with supervisors. What is worth noting is the fact that the prison officials were so pleased with his service that they even indicated that they would promote Jason Galanis. The report stated that the officials considered getting him a more demanding job with higher pay if he worked for them outside prison.
Apart from his prison sentence and engagement to Savannah Chrisley, TMZ has also released documents from Jason Galanis’s divorce from his first wife. The document listed tens of millions of dollars in restitution, forfeiture, and other financial obligations.
