A high school south of Brisbane was forced into lockdown after a man was seen carrying what appeared to be a firearm near the campus on Wednesday.

Police were called to Neridah Street, next to Loganlea State High School in Loganlea, about 9am, and the school went into lockdown for 20 minutes.

Officers discovered the 27-year-old was carrying a gel blaster.

He was taken into custody, and officers said no one had been injured.
