Some schools have been evacuated after receiving an email threatening that “an explosive device” is located within their building.

St Colman’s PS Lambeg said that parents should “come immediately” and collect children and “please don’t panic the children are all safe”. Harpur’s Hill PS and Rosstulla Special School have also advised that children are to be collected.

The email, seen by BBC News NI, was sent to over 100 schools across.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said it received reports regarding “an email sent to a number of schools across Northern Ireland”.

“As a result of this email, police are conducting urgent enquiries, and liaising with the schools in question. An update will be provided in due course.”

The Department of Education and Education Authority have been contacted.
