Kakinada: A dispute between two women over seat allocation on an APSRTC bus travelling from Tuni to Rajamahendravaram escalated into a violent attack near Chinnampeta village in Yeleswaram mandal of Kakinada district on Saturday night, leaving both women seriously injured.

According to Yeleswaram Sub-Inspector N. Ramalingeswara Rao, one woman placed a kerchief on a seat, but another woman occupied it, triggering an argument.

Enraged by the altercation, one of the women called her husband and informed him about the incident.

The husband allegedly gathered around 30 youths and waited along the bus route.

When the bus reached Chinnampeta, the group intercepted it, entered the vehicle and attacked the two women.

The injured women were admitted to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada.

The SI said a case had been registered based on their complaint.
