The Georgia Bulldogs secured a commitment from junior college (JUCO) defensive back recruit Alius Mayo to fortify Georgia’s class of 2027. Mayo is the nation’s No. 1 JUCO recruit and flipped his commitment from California to Georgia. His decision is massive for Georgia because he is the Bulldogs’ first cornerback commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
The Bulldogs now have the nation’s No. 9 recruiting class and 21 total commitments. Georgia is ranked behind three other SEC programs in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.

SEC teams make up half of the top-10 recruiting rankings including the No. 1 Texas A&M Aggies. Tennessee is the SEC’s biggest recent winner in recruiting. Tennessee has risen up the rankings after a slow start. Of course, we are well past the start of recruiting with the early signing period a couple of months away.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are a traditional SEC recruiting power that has really struggled in the class of 2027. Maybe the Crimson Tide are focusing more on the transfer portal, but it is weird to see that Alabama has the No. 37 recruiting class in the country. Alabama recently lost a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Anthony Blalock.
