Bhadradri Kothagudem: Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Monday said construction of the Seethamma Sagar project would resume in November, following the resolution of legal hurdles that had stalled the project work.

The Minister, who inspected the Seethamma Sagar project works in Aswapuram mandal, directed officials to increase water storage at the Dummugudem barrage to prevent drinking water shortages during the coming summer.
Speaking to the media, he informed that the legal hurdles had been cleared following the initiative of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and a favourable Supreme Court verdict, adding that final approvals from the Centre were expected by the end of this month.
A Supreme Court Bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant in July had upheld the validity of environmental clearances already granted to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, Seethamma Sagar Multipurpose Project and Gouravelli Reservoir, paving the way for their execution
The Minister directed officials to resume construction, which had remained stalled for five years, in November. He said silt accumulation had reduced the water storage capacity at the Dummugudem barrage to around 0.5 TMC.
