Selma Blair's In-Flight Assault Was 'Not Intentional', Meltdown Was Triggered By Missed Medication

Actress Selma Blair is currently making headlines after she was arrested following an in-flight assault that took place on Sunday, i.e., on October 11, 2026. The incident unfolded aboard a Delta flight on which Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another while traveling from Los Angeles to New York City.

Selma Blair’s attorney said the assault was ‘not intentional’

Selma was restrained aboard the aircraft and taken into custody after landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport. She was transported to a hospital for evaluation, but on the way to the hospital, the actress repeatedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head. Not just this, once she reached the hospital, Blair allegedly assaulted a nurse, who later pressed charges.

The Legally Blonde actress was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and would face two to seven years behind bars if convicted. Blair entered a not guilty plea after being brought into court and was even seen getting emotional. One of her attorneys, Shawn Barnes, said that Blair had missed her medication prescribed to treat multiple sclerosis, due to which the in-flight assault happened.

Blair also revealed that the assault was not intentional and Blair’s ‘extensive hours and exhaustive hours’ along with missed medicines were the reason behind her outburst. As per the attorney:

“These factors, coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation. This was not an intentional assault.”

Blair’s other attorney, Joshua Reitzas, asked the judge to consider the actress’s body of work, to which the judge stated that she would not get any ‘special treatment because she is a celebrity’. Selma Blair was released on bail. According to Page Six, Blair’s bond was set at USD 20,000 cash, USD 60,000 bond, or a USD 60,000 partially secured bond.

Selma Blair suffered neurological symptoms due to multiple sclerosis

It was in 2018 when Selma Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and since then, the actress has been dealing with many neurological symptoms like issues with her vision, movement, and bladder control. Not just this, Selma has also suffered many neurological symptoms for decades, like issues with vision, movement, and bladder control.

This wasn’t the first time Blair was removed from a flight. In 2016, the actress faced a similar episode aboard a plane when she was traveling with her four-year-old son and her husband, and she began crying all of a sudden. Blair also started making alarming statements about a man abusing her as she said, “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.”

Blair was reportedly drinking wine on the flight before she made the remarks. Soon, the pilot alerted authorities, after which Blair was removed from the flight on a stretcher. Years ago, the actress bit three other celebrities. Yes! In her memoir, Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up, Selma revealed that her biting habits stemmed from an ‘overwhelming feeling’ in public.
