KAKINADA: Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu on Sunday asked municipal officials to take urgent action to solve the drinking water crisis in Palakollu.
Rama Naidu assessed the current water levels in the reservoirs and estimated how many days the existing supply would last. He instructed the officials to make alternative arrangements for drinking water to the people and also overseeing the drilling of borewells on a war footing.
The minister laid the stone for several development works at a cost of Rs 3.76 crore in Palakolu constituency.
When he toured the Mattaparru village in Poduru mandal, there was an altercation between the Telugu Desam and YSRC workers. The YSRC leaders in the village submitted a memorandum to the minister, urging him to develop the Mattaparru road. Nimmala asked the YSRC leaders as to why they did not take up such works in the past.
He said, already Rs 1.3 crore was sanctioned for the road but the government faced a financial crunch. He assured the people that if the road was not completed by 2029, he would construct it with his own personal funds.
