Ariyalur: Seventeen villagers, including the driver of a load autorickshaw, were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned into a roadside pit on the Ottakovil-Salaikurichi Road, near Ariyalur, on Monday.
Police said the villagers of Jayaramapuram hired the load autorickshaw and went to Anandavadi village to attend a bereavement when the mishap occurred.
All the injured, including driver Silambarasan, were treated at the government medical college hospital in Ariyalur.
Ariyalur police registered a case and are investigating.
