A worker for an AI dating startup announced that she launched a new friend-finding service for “ambitious” women in Silicon Valley.
Elsa Cai, a creative director at dating startup Ditto, wrote on X that ever since she moved to San Francisco, “my world has been all work. Talking about agents all day and spending 90% of my time with my engineers.”
Cai wanted to connect with more women in the male-dominated tech space, she explained, so she built Bay Area Bestie, a platform that offers users a new platonic match each week.
“Bay Area Bestie: a way for young, ambitious girls in the bay to find each other,” she wrote. “For the girlies who want to build big things and have friends to do life with.”
She made her announcement alongside a photo of herself posing with member of her college sorority.
According to Ditto’s website, all adults — not just women — can sign up for the AI-powered friend-matching service. Users need to a work or school email address for identity verification purposes, and they can tell the AI agent what kind of person they want to meet. Matches then get served up on Wednesdays.

The entire service is free, according to the website.
Allen Wang, a co-founder at Ditto, claimed that Bay Area Besties already had more than 250 sign-ups under ten hours.
Cai curiously announced the launch while sharing a story about San Francisco’s “hot girl bubble.”
That article covers the phenomenon of gorgeous women “flocking to the city” as companies flush with cash from the AI boom hire them to charm investors and clients.
The Post previously reported that Chinese and Chinese-American women are flocking to Silicon Valley from across the country and around the globe with the aim of landing a husband who works in AI.
Dating in San Francisco has become a particularly fraught subject, with one employee at a startup going viral for her laundry list of dating must-haves.
Ditto — which was launched by two UC Berkeley dropouts for college students in the area — seems poised take advantage of tech workers’ dating woes, boasting that it has arranged more than 80,000 dates and had a 67% success rate.
