Last year, on Shah Rukh Khan’s 60th birthday, the makers of King unveiled the superstar’s first look from the film. Today, on his 61st birthday, they have released the first song from the Siddharth Anand directorial. While fans were eagerly waiting for an update on the film, with many expecting a teaser or trailer, the makers surprised them by dropping the song at midnight to mark the superstar’s birthday. With an unprecedented global music collaboration featuring Arijit Singh’s glorious vocals and Ed Sheeran’s distinct rap style, the song Tu Mil Jaaye reunites SRK and Deepika Padukone.

Giving audiences an exciting glimpse into the world of King, the music video opens with Shah Rukh Khan’s dialogue, “Main qaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooka, aur woh aashiq hi kya jo dil cheer na de.”

The song opens on a peppy, romantic note, with the two actors sharing screen space against scenic backdrops. It captures their romance as it unfolds, with Shah Rukh sporting short black hair and bringing his signature charm and style to the screen. Deepika looks gorgeous as the two share several romantic moments across picturesque locations.
However, the song offers more than just romance. Interspersed with action sequences, it also hints at the underworld and the smuggling business that Shah Rukh’s character appears to be involved in.

In a striking shift, the romantic visuals briefly give way to darker, more intense shots of action and violence. SRK appears in a salt-and-pepper look, bloodied and unleashing his violent side as he engages in brutal fights with people, while flames rage in the background.
The visuals then cut back to the romance between the two, with glimpses of Shah Rukh showing off his chiselled physique. It ends on an intense note, with the superstar delivering a powerful dialogue: “Par is baar dil mein aag lagi hai. Ab duniya jalaye bina manega nahi.” (But this time, a fire has been ignited in my heart. Now, I won’t rest until I set the world ablaze.)

The song has been composed by Sachin-Jigar, with vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi.
