Shai Bolton has won the Norm Smith Medal, taking the individual honour despite his Dockers losing a thrilling grand final to the Brisbane Lions by seven points.
Bolton congratulated the Lions as the benchmark side, and thanked the crowd for their support.
The message for his team was that they would be back bigger and stronger.
The voting panel was made up of ex-Adelaide star Andrew McLeod, former Port Adelaide and Hawthorn player Shaun Burgoyne, ex-Eagle and Blue Chris Judd, Lions great Michael Voss and journalist Lauren Wood.
