Shamar Elkins Went Out With Daughter, Shared Cryptic Post Before Louisiana Shooting ‘If You Could..’

Shreveport’s quiet weekend turned deadly after a shooting incident claimed the lives of multiple children and left two women injured. While investigators are still trying to link the details of the incident together, the alleged suspect, Shamar Elkins’ social media posts from days before the incident have surfaced on the internet. As the authorities are trying to understand the possible motive behind the target, let’s take a look at those posts.

Shamar Elkins’ social media posts, days before the Louisiana Shooting incident 

According to the Daily Mail, Shamar Elkins has been identified as the alleged suspect in the Louisiana shooting incident. According to his Facebook post, he alleged that he shared an evening, a couple of days before the shooting incident, with his eldest daughter. He took her on a one-on-one date at a burger restaurant. The post now stands as a sharp contrast to the shooting tragedy, which claimed the lives of 8 children. Although the authorities have not officially verified the posts, it has gone viral on social media. Sharing a picture of his daughter eating a burger, he penned:

“Lol!!!! Took my oldest on a lil 1 on 1 date and had to catch her down bad ugh ugh.”

Moreover, in the days leading up to the tragedy, Shamar had shared multiple cryptic posts on the internet, which are now being analyzed by internet users. One of his posts read, “Understand to be misunderstood.” Meanwhile, another post seemed more like a hint at personal or marital struggles, wherein he asked fellow fathers, “If you could go back in time and have kids with a different woman but still have the same kids, would you do it?” Some other posts also referred to some sort of message of emotional distress, where he asked god to guard his mind and emotions.

Who is Shamar Elkins?

Shamar Elkins, 31, has been identified as an alleged suspect in the Louisiana shooting incident that took place on April 19, 2026. The authorities have not released a detailed official statement to confirm all the details of the case. Still, some initial reports suggest that the shooting might have started from a domestic disturbance. Officials have hinted that the shooter had personal connections to several victims, and a second shooting at another home and nearby Street took place simultaneously.

What happened in the Louisiana mass shooting incident?

The investigators are still trying to paint a clear picture of the events, which might have led to the horrific tragedy. Two women were also critically injured due to gunshot wounds, along with multiple children who died in the incident. According to Tom Arceneaux’s statement to CNN, the exact relationship of the suspect with the women is not clear, and they are in serious condition, unable to provide a statement. After the initial attack, the suspect ran away, but police followed and confronted him, where he died during an encounter. According to Police Corporal Chris Bordelon’s initial findings:

“Some of the children inside were his descendants. We do believe him to be the only individual who fired gunshots at these locations. It was a domestic disturbance.”
