Ever since its release on March 19, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, directed by filmmaker Aditya Dhar, has set the box office on fire. With Dhurandhar, the first part, released in December 2025, both Dhar’s films have received widespread audience acceptance and have collected over ₹3,000 crore worldwide. The films, starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor, have created history by breaking several records, becoming the first Indian film franchise to cross ₹3,000 crore worldwide. The duology, including Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, achieved this record, surpassing other major hits like Baahubali and Pushpa to set a new benchmark for Indian cinema.

Recently, in an interview with India Today, veteran actor Gulshan Grover revealed that Shatrughan Sinha told him that he could have played the character of Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar. However, the role was played by the Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna, for which he had received great appreciation and love from the audience. Shatrughan Sinha, during a dinner, shared that he had watched Dhurandhar and told Grover that it was the kind of film he should have been a part of.

Gulshan Grover recalled, “Two days back, Shatrughan Sinha was there, who has played anti-hero, strong, powerful characters, Rakesh Roshan, Shashi Ranjan — we were having dinner. So, I walked in late, and he (Sinha) said, ‘I saw Dhurandhar. Gulshan Grover, that was a film in which you should have been there. “He further revealed: “He (Sinha) even said how wonderful it would have been if I had played Rehman Dakait, Akshaye Khanna’s role. So, I said, even I agree with that. The public also agrees.”
