Saif Ali Khan recently revisited a funny incident from the early days of his relationship with Kareena Kapoor. The actor recalled how their first motorcycle ride together in Ladakh did not turn out to be quite the experience Kareena had expected, despite her initial enthusiasm.
During an appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Saif spoke about the incident, which took place while they were filming Tashan in 2007–2008. He revealed that someone from the film’s team suggested he take Kareena for a bike ride, mentioning that she was fond of motorcycles.
Taking the suggestion, Saif approached Kareena and asked if she would like to go for a ride. Recalling her response, he said, “I asked Kareena, ‘Would you like to go on a bike ride?’ She said, ‘Yes, I love bikes.’”
However, things took an unexpected turn once they were on the motorcycle. Sharing how Kareena reacted, Saif recalled, “I took her on a little ride, and every two seconds she dug her nails into me and said, ‘Stop, stop…not so fast.’ Afterwards, she said, ‘I hate bike rides’.”
The actor added that while the experience made him realise that the two liked each other, Kareena clearly wasn’t a fan of riding on a motorcycle. Saif said, “So I said, ‘Then why are we on this bike?’ Then I thought, ‘Ah… okay, maybe there is something else to it.’ So I think we liked each other, but she did not like the bike.”
Saif and Kareena’s relationship reportedly blossomed while they were shooting for Tashan, which hit theatres in 2008. What began as a connection on the film’s sets eventually turned into a long-term relationship. The couple tied the knot on October 16, 2012 and are parents to two sons, Taimur and Jehangir Ali Khan.
