Buckle up, golf world.

The best players on the planet will be back to play Shinnecock Hills, the venerable wind-swept links course on eastern Long Island that this week is hosting the U.S. Open for the sixth time in its history, the fifth time in the modern era.

In the five previous U.S. Opens played there, the ride has gotten rough at times, with difficult conditions and treacherous putting on the tricky surfaces.

The last man to hoist the U.S. Open trophy there was Brooks Koepka, who won in 2018 to become the first player in 29 years to repeat as the national champion.
