Hyderabad: A 55-year-old Sub-Inspector, K Venkanna, died while undergoing treatment after he was hit by a motorcycle while on Ganesh immersion bandobust duty at NTR Marg in Hyderabad.
Venkanna, who was working as an SI at Kothagudem Two Town Police Station, was deployed near crane number 2 on NTR Marg on Tuesday.
During his duty, an unidentified biker reportedly hit him and fled the spot. Venkanna suffered minor injuries in the accident and, believing that he had not sustained serious injuries, decided to return home and rest.
He travelled to Warangal after the accident. However, he suddenly felt unwell, following which his family members rushed him to the MGM Hospital in Warangal. Venkanna died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Wednesday.
Police are investigating the incident and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the biker responsible for the accident.
