Simone Biles is back in the hospital just weeks after “almost dying.”
Biles posted a picture on Instagram on Thursday of her wearing a hospital gown and hair net alongside her husband and NFL safety Jonathan Owens.
Unlike her last hospital post, the 11-time Olympic medalist seemed to be in a good mood and joked about Owens having to spend his birthday in the hospital with her.
“His birthday but he takes me to get my procedure,” Biles said.
The photo is one of the first public updates since Biles posted pictures of her hospital bands on June 6 during “one of, if not the scariest experience of [her] life.”
Biles has said she values privacy and typically wouldn’t share an update like this, and did not disclose the reason for her hospital visits either time.
Pictures on her stories from June showed hospital bracelets, flowers and a bed in which the gymnast had been resting.
“Almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” Biles wrote on Instagram. “This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices.
“I’ve been in bed resting this week, I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers.”
Biles posted a health update a few weeks after the incident while on a vacation to the Dominican Republic with Owens, but some commenters questioned the severity of her medical procedure.
Biles responded to the comments that she was sad they would think such a thing.
“A little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal and appreciate being here,” she wrote.
“I hope you understand that life-changing experiences can shift your perspective and that you’re able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward.”
Bile also shot back at a fan mentioning the drink she had in the video, claiming it was a non-alcoholic beverage.
