Hyderabad: Income Tax officials on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on Omega Hospitals across five states. Searches are currently underway at 24 locations in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand.
The special searches are being led by the Hyderabad Investigation Wing. A total of eight teams of IT officials are involved in the operation. Raids are being carried out at branches of Omega Hospitals and at the residences and offices of senior doctors, including the residences of the founder & managing director and Chief Surgical Oncologist Dr. Ch. Mohana Vamsy and other senior employees associated with the hospital.
Police have been deployed outside the hospital premises as the investigation has been underway for the past four hours.
According to officials, a large number of documents, hard disks, and financial transaction records have been seized. The searches were launched following allegations of tax evasion and large cash transactions. IT officials are also probing the financial sources of Omega Hospitals’ management and its key directors.
