Lorinda May Merrypor is a performer. The 30-year-old shares her day on a plate.
10am Breakfast is scrambled eggs and smashed avo on sourdough, then off to the gym. I chug water throughout the day.
1pm Post-gym snack of a green smoothie while I do some op-shopping.
3.30pm Homemade grilled chicken salad in a spinach-and-herb wrap followed by a mandarin while I finish off Should I Marry a Murderer? on Netflix. Get ready for work and drive to the theatre.
5pm A few sour worms as a preshow snack. I’m still keeping very hydrated.
9.30pm Post-show dinner of smoked salmon, tomato and avocado on two corn thins. Take off my make-up and get ready for bed.
10pm Peppermint tea and a homemade white chocolate miso cookie in bed while reading Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for … Keeping your fluids up throughout the day – this is especially important when you’re training and then performing on stage. Breakfast is a good start, too, and adding a few extra vegies such as spinach, mushrooms or tomato would make it even stronger.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Get plenty of nutritious foods in, but on such an active day your overall intake looks a little light. Iron is one nutrient I’d keep an eye on, along with calcium and fibre, simply because there are no substantial meals here.
Why don’t you try … Making lunch your main meal of the day – perhaps a big salad bowl with plenty of lean meat, legumes or another iron-rich protein, lots of colourful veg and some wholegrain bread on the side. That way, your light supper of smoked salmon, tomato and avocado after the show is perfect as you wind down before bed.
Lorinda May Merrypor stars in Six the Musical, now playing in Sydney.
