Sony Group reported a record net profit of 791.7 billion yen for the six months from April to September 2026, up 38% from a year earlier, driven by strong performance in its film business, including the worldwide success of a new installment in the Spider-Man franchise.
The company’s movie division benefited from strong global box office earnings, helping push overall profitability to an all-time high for the first half of the fiscal year.
Following the results, Sony Group raised its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to 1.33 trillion yen, representing a 29% upward revision from its previous projection.
The stronger outlook reflects the contribution of its entertainment operations, with the success of the Spider-Man franchise providing a significant boost to earnings.
