It’s official.
Actress Sophia Bush and former pro soccer player Ashlyn Harris married in a private ceremony in upstate New York in summer 2025 with Harris’ children present, the pair shared with Vogue in a story published on Wednesday.
“The kids were just running and happy, and we picked flowers from the property and our daughter Sloane was holding them. It was so fun for them, because it wasn’t this pressure-filled day that’s too much for young kids,” Harris said.
“It was so precious, and zero pressure. I will never forget it, and I think wedding days sometimes aren’t like that,” Harris, who shares Sloane, 5, and Ocean, 4, with her ex-wife and former USWNT teammate, Ali Krieger.
Bush explained that she was tired of calling Harris “my partner.”
“We got to have personal experiences with everyone we love, and once we got through all of those, how do we put it out? Because I don’t want to keep sitting on panels or in interviews and being like, ‘my partner,’” Bush said, before looking at Harris.
“You’re not my partner, you know? You’re my wife. And it feels so amazing to say that.”
Bush said they ended their wedding night roasting marshmallows with their family.
The “One Tree Hill” alum expanded on their wedding day in her new memoir, “And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress,” to be released on Oct. 27 — and Vogue published an excerpt.
“We wept. We laughed. We exchanged rings. The invisible string pulled tighter around us,” Bush writes.
“When our photos came, they were perfect. Just us. Pure joy. The backyard and the sunset. Easy, and by that, I mean at ease. And it was ours, just ours.”
Bush and Harris went public with their relationship in 2024 after first being linked in the fall of 2023.
Harris filed for divorce from Krieger on Sept. 19, 2023, citing that the marriage is “irretrievably broken,” according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
Harris retired from professional soccer in November 2022, and Krieger called it a career at the end of the 2023 NWSL season, last playing with Gotham FC.
They were on two World Cup-winning USWNT teams together in 2015 and 2019.
