The controversy surrounding actor Dhruv Vikram’s stalled film, tentatively titled DV4, has intensified, with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) taking a firm stand on the dispute. SIFCC secretary Krishna Reddy spoke to Maitri Movie Makers CEO Chiranjeevi Pedamallu (widely known as Cherry) and stated that the original commitment should be honoured before any new project begins and that Dhruv Vikram. A meeting was scheduled on July 30, 2026, to resolve the matter amicably. Representatives of Niladri Productions attended the meeting, while Dhruv Vikram was reportedly absent.
Speaking about the issue to Deccan Chronicle, SIFCC officials said no new film involving Dhruv Vikram should proceed until the dispute over the original DV4 project is resolved. The film was launched by Niladri Productions in association with producer Jayantilal Gada. According to the complaint submitted to the Chamber, nearly ₹20 crore has already been invested in the project.
The Chamber maintains that the original film must be completed before the actor begins work on another project. It has reportedly advised Mythri Movie Makers to place its proposed film with Dhruv Vikram on hold.
The production house was also informed that no teaser, trailer, promotional material or film release linked to the new project should be unveiled until the dispute is settled. Officials warned that failure to reach an amicable resolution could result in legal proceedings.
According to the complaint filed by Niladri Productions, Dhruv Vikram allegedly stopped participating in the film without formally informing the producer. The complaint further claims that the actor did not provide shooting dates and was unwilling to continue filming, reportedly citing health-related reasons.
The Chamber has sought Dhruv Vikram’s personal explanation before taking a final decision. Officials said no representative or intermediary would be accepted in his place. Secretary Krishna Reddy is reportedly monitoring the matter on priority and has warned that failure to appear before the Chamber could invite further action.
The Chamber has also raised concerns over the use of the title DV4 for another proposed film. Niladri Productions originally announced its project as Dhruv Vikram’s fourth film. Therefore, officials believe any subsequent project should technically be referred to as DV5.
Using the same working title for a new production could create confusion and undermine the original producer’s claim over the project, Chamber representatives said.
Officials stressed that actors should honour existing professional commitments or formally secure the producer’s consent before moving to another film. With a substantial investment already at stake, the Chamber is determined to settle the dispute before allowing Dhruv Vikram’s new project to move forward.
