‘South Park’ Has Been Mysteriously Delayed Yet Again

Good news for South Park fans: The show is giving us “a special Halloween episode.” The bad news is, it’s airing on Halloween night, not this coming Wednesday as everyone was expecting.

In the upcoming “The Woman in the Hat” (not to be confused with Mr. Hat), “the White House deals with a disruptive spirit from the East Wing. While Stan worries that South Park has become too political.” South Park’s official accounts proved that the episode does indeed exist, posting an image of Donald Trump and his significant other Satan posing next to the controversial construction site.

South Park is all new Friday, October 31st,” the post advertises, which is a little odd, since the show famously airs on Wednesdays. Also won’t a lot of people be busy going to Halloween parties and/or checking their kids’ candy for fentanyl that night?

South Park’s schedule has been all over the place this year, beginning with the Paramount merger delays and followed by the semi-bi-weekly drops that came as a shock to viewers at the time. Not to mention the fact that Trey Parker and Matt Stone missed their deadline for only the second time in the show’s history in September. Oh, and Season 27 randomly ended in September, meaning that every subsequent episode has technically been part of season 28.

The weirdest part about all of this is that very few explanations have been offered. Comedy Central never formally announced the bi-weekly schedule change, and details about the Season 28 “premiere” were similarly scant. Now they’re acting as though dropping the show on Halloween night was always part of the plan, when it clearly wasn’t. As Variety pointed out, previous posts promoting the “original airdate” have now been deleted. Although, as of writing, Comedy Central’s online schedule still has “The Woman in the Hat” scheduled for Wednesday night.

It sure seems as though Parker and Stone may have just missed their deadline again but, either because they don’t want to saddle viewers with another three-week gap between episodes, or because the storyline they’ve already worked out is pinned to Halloween, the duo decided to air the episode two days late.

Hopefully fans can handle not knowing what Peter Thiel is doing to Cartman for another 48 hours.
