Hyderabad:A Special Lok Adalat will be held for cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments on July 18 and November 11. A wall posted was in the chambers of Sessions Judge-cum-chairperson K. Sai Rama Devi.
Judge Sai Rama Devi said the Special Lok Adalat provided an opportunity for the speedy, cost-effective, and permanent settlement of Section 138 NI Act cases through mutual compromise. She observed that settlement through compromise would not only save time and money for both parties but also provide relief from prolonged litigation.
She said the awards passed in the Special Lok Adalat had statutory recognition and were binding on both parties.
A statement from the Telangana State Legal Services Authority said a review meeting was conducted with judicial officers regarding the arrangements for the Special Lok Adalat. Directions were issued to identify compoundable cases, inform the litigants, and take steps to ensure the successful conduct of the Special Lok Adalat.
